Aluk issues material supply advisory from the continual fallout from the coronavirus pandemic

Please read this important communique from AluK which explains the difficulties facing our industry regarding aluminium material supplies.

The Building Products and Construction industry has experienced unprecedented demand in recent months, which has contributed to widespread material shortages and price increases in many materials such as aluminium, polyester powder paint, plastics, and certain accessories.

Following on from the COVID lockdowns that occurred in most countries, supply chains are experiencing considerable disruption on a global basis, with most lead-times extending significantly and at very short notice. This restriction in supply also removes the short-term ability to adequately increase stocks to sufficiently buffer the shortages.

At this time, it is not possible to predict the full extent or duration of this supply problem. However, current indications confirm that the situation is not expected to improve in the foreseeable short term.

The situation is very fluid and differs by individual component and material, and for this reason we wish to avoid, as far as possible, a short-term increase to our standard delivery times. While it is possible that some delays and shortages will occur, the AluK GB team will continue to attempt to mitigate these challenges are far as possible through flexible planning, production, and customer service.

We ask for your understanding during this difficult period and we will be closely monitoring order intake volumes so that we can share the available stocks that we have, fairly across our customer base.

We will continue to provide updates as the situation develops and should you have specific questions, please do not hesitate to contact your Customer Services or Sales representative.

Kind regards,

Graeme Bainbridge
Operations Director

As always, we will continue to update this space whenever possible.
